Active Learning - Applications for the Classroom
Start Date: 1/15/2019Start Time: 10:30 AM
End Date: 1/15/2019End Time: 11:30 AM
Event Description:

Join the Center for Teaching and Learning to learn about Active Learning! What is active learning? At its core, it is any learning practice that allows students to actively engage in the learning process through activities and discussions as opposed to passively listening to an instructor lecture. This type of learning requires students be involved in some sort of activity that often requires information gathering, reflection, and problem solving through application, synthesis and/or evaluation.

In this workshop, we will introduce and explore approaches to active learning that are effective for engaging students in meaningful ways in the classroom setting. Instructional activities that are applicable and adaptable for the online classes will also be briefly discussed. We will discuss some drawbacks to implementing this teaching technique, as well as possible solutions to these issues.

We encourage onsite attendance, but the workshop will also be streamed via Adobe Connect at Recordings will be posted to our Toolkit Events page at a later date. No registration is required.

If you have any questions, please contact or your Instructional Designer. And to learn what other sessions we have coming up, please visit our Teaching Toolkit Events & Workshops page:
